There are two primary methods for laying coping stones on walls.
- Mortar; a mix of sand and cement
- Epoxy adhesive
The most popular method is to use normal mortar on brick walls (4 parts sand to 1 part cement). However, on natural stone walls it is important to match the mortar colour. The colour of sand and cement is important in this case. When installing copings on natural stone walls, try to use light coloured sand with white cement and some lime. This keeps the mortar light, in keeping with the stone.
Epoxy adhesive tends to be used in situations when the coping has become dislodged and needs to be re-fitted without affecting the copings each side of it.
