Stoneworld helped to create this spectacular landscaping project, from concept to creation. The results are a fabulous and stunning garden at this luxury hillside home.
Capturing breath-taking views, this steeply sloping site demanded a structural design that would enable the owners to make full use of their garden. Strategically placed features that reflect the property owners’ interests have been incorporated into the design; all linked together with bespoke steps and terraces to create a journey through the garden.
The stunning design by Chris Tizzard was built by Kircher Building Services. David Kircher called Stoneworld in to help bring the design to life. Many areas of this project required bespoke stone cutting to achieve the desired finish. Digitally templating many areas of the design, Stoneworld then created pool and wall copings, steps and shaped paving in the masonry factory.
Bespoke made Portuguese Moleanos limestone steps and wall copings close to the house contrast with extensive paved areas where Raj Hand Cut sandstone paving has been used.
Raj Green hand cut sandstone paving and 38mm coping stones surround the upper koi carp pond.
The luxury swimming pool is edged with Moleanos limestone pool copings. 40mm thick copings cut in two sizes: the giant arc of the roman end required larger copings of 525mm. The straight pool copings are 300mm deep. Due to the dramatic change in levels that are a feature throughout the garden, wherever copings have been used that are viewable from both sides, both long edges have been finished with a pencil roll. This includes pool copings, wall copings and terrace copings.
Below the pool are further planting terraces featuring magnificent arcs that hug the hillside. Now filled with plants tumbling over the edges, these look well established in the landscape. Retaining walls are built from Purbeck walling stone, with coping stones made from Raj Sandstone, 38mm thick . Again, these have been finished with a pencil roll front and back. Every arc was digitally templated during the construction phase. Individual coping stones were then cut using our water jet cutter in our masonry factory.
A magnificent water feature set into the hillside, falls over a huge feature stone. The water falls into a fabulous koi carp pond. The retaining wall for this pond is thicker than the planting terraces, and requires a more sturdy coping stone. Our Extra Thick (50mm) tumbled sandstone paving slabs in 560 x 845 mm format are the perfect finishing touch.
Attention to detail throughout this project created a fabulous landscape to be enjoyed by the owners.
